I bought this color awhile back, but just tried it out recently. It is a lovely color. It actually looks way better in person than it does here. It is difficult to remove, as are most glitter nail polishes, but it's worth it. I found a website that has a technique they claim can easily remove glitter nail polish. I have yet to try it out. I will soon and I'll report back.

I have been using henna for over a year now, but I only recently started using it more consistently. I use it every 2-3 months. Earlier last week I did my most recent treatment. I didn't do a full henna. I just did a henna gloss. I mixed 50 g of henna with some Herbal Essences Hello Hydration conditioner, Lustrasilk Mango and Shea Butter Deep Conditioner and hot water. The next day my hair was noticeably thicker and looked a bit shinier. The brand of henna I use is Jamila henna, but I have also used Karishma henna (pictured above) and they both work well. If you are natural just be warned that for some it has loosened their curl pattern, but that has never happened to me.

I was over on the blog Very Smart Brothers and I was reading a post titled "10 Reasons Not To Date Dimes". The author listed 10 reasons why he doesn't date good looking women. A few of the reasons listed were no depth, underdeveloped personalities, and insecurity. This is my first time actually hearing this from a man. I was under the impression that most men want the pretty girl. So I'm now wondering if this is the way a lot of men feel or is this guy a part of a very small minority. I could be wrong, but personally I think that men with this mentality are intimidated by pretty women or they feel they have to put in more work to get and keep them. Not sure that I'm buying that it has to do with their insecurity, and lack of personality etc. What do you guys think?

Tyler Perry says monogamy isn't for him

Tyler Perry recently did an interview with the New York Post and he said that he is not sure that he can be monogamous. Here is the quote:

"I now have homes all over," he said. "LA, Atlanta where I grew up, New York. But I live alone. In all my adult life I've had five serious relationships with women. And I'm not sure monogamy is for me."

I'm surprised that Tyler feels this way, but I do applaud him for saying it. At least he isn't going to lead on some woman who may think she could possibly be Mrs. Perry one day. I do wonder how his Christian followers are going to take this.

I was over on another blog yesterday and the topic of discussion was if people who come from single parent homes can be good spouses. The author of the blog says that she cannot date anyone who was raised by a single mother because he had no one there to teach him how to be a man and, therefore, would probably not be a good husband or father. I understand why some people would think this, but I disagree. Just because someone may come from a two parent home doesn't mean that it was a healthy environment. There are many people who have had absent fathers or mothers and have decided that they want to be the exact opposite of their absent parent. To put all humans who happen to come from this background into one box is just plain prejudice. What do you guys think?

I was on the phone with a friend and we were discussing the remake of "We Are The World" when she brought up the All-Star Tribute of "What's Going On?". I can't believe that I had forgotten about this song because I used to love it. The song which was produced by Jermaine Dupri and Bono was released on October 2001. It was made as a charity single were all of the proceeds went to the fight against the global AIDS epidemic. The song was recorded shortly before 9/11, so the proceeds also went to the Red Cross September 11th fund. Enjoy.

T.I. released from prison

T.I. was released from prison today. He was initially sentenced to 366 days stemming from his arrest in 2007 for attempting to illegally purchase firearms. His lawyers say that he will now spend the rest of his sentence in a half-way house in Atlanta.

Is Avatar racist?

I was over on Essence.com and I came upon an article about the movie Avatar and it's racial undertones. The article says that many feel that the movie is racist because it's about a white man who goes to live among the native people and eventually becomes their leader. I think that this is much to do about nothing. It's just a Sci-Fi movie and I think people are analyzing it way too much. Only thing that I found a little strange is that the three black actors in the movie play Na'vi. I wish they would have given at least one of them a human role. What do you guys think?

Brittany Murphy Dead at 32

Talented actress Brittany Murphy died yesterday of cardiac arrest. She was 32. She was famous for her roles in such films as "Clueless", "Uptown Girls", and "Girl Interrupted". I was first introduced to Brittany from her role as Tamera's best friend in "Sister Sister" but I will remember her most from her role in "Clueless". When I was in junior high I was obsessed with the movie. My friends and I would quote lines from the movie all the time. We even started calling boys "Baldwins" and "Barney's". Every interview I have ever seen her in she always seemed very warm and down to earth. She will be missed.
